The UAE is an “important stage” in dealing with the Covid-19 pandemic in the country, requiring every resident to do their part to contain the virus and then eliminate it, according to government spokesperson Dr. Amna Al Dahak Al Shamsi.
On Wednesday, the UAE announced that it had detected 725 new Covid-19 infections, bringing the country’s total to 20,386 including those receiving treatment, recoveries and deaths. Of the total, 13,657 are receiving treatment at the moment.
Three additional fatalities were reported, bringing the UAE’s coronavirus death toll to 206.
According to Al Shamsi, 511 new recoveries were also recorded. To date, a total of 6,523 people have recovered so far.
To date, 1,560,923 tests have been conducted.
In a statement to the media, Al Shamsi said, “We are at an important stage in dealing with the virus. It requires everyone to take responsibility by committing to eliminate it.
“Complacency will cause more infections and prolong the spread of the virus. Therefore, care must be taken to adopt precautionary measures, such as physical distancing, avoiding gatherings, and wearing face masks.”
Globally, there have been more than 4.4 million confirmed cases of Covid-19, including 298,174 deaths and over 1.6 million recoveries.
