Parents in Abu Dhabi may choose to continue working from home while schools are closed under the latest guidelines issued by the emirate’s Department of Economic Development (ADDED).

The measures have been released in order to ensure the safe transition of employees returning to work, in addition to sector-based measures for construction, manufacturing and utilities, financial services, retail and wholesale, transportation, and restaurants and hospitality.

According to a social media posting from Abu Dhabi Media Office, “low-risk individuals are eligible to be in the workplace, but those who can effectively do their jobs remotely should continue to work from home”.

Those who are also eligible include employees aged between 18-55, who live alone or with low risk individuals who are not affected by chronic diseases.

Those ineligible are employees over 55, pregnant women, people living with anyone with chronic diseases or who is over 60-years-old.

Previous measures restricting attendance to 30 percent, strict social distancing and sanitisation of work and communal spaces, still apply.
